Call for Volunteers: RUTA Annual Conference 2026 “Rooted Knowledges and Dialogues for Change”

Location: Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine (exact location to be shared with selected volunteers)

The RUTA Association promotes Central, South, and Eastern European, Baltic, Caucasus, Central and Northern Asian studies, and fosters solidarity-based academic and cultural networks. Organized in cooperation with Razom for Ukraine, this volunteer program offers a unique opportunity to become part of a vibrant international community of distinguished scholars, researchers, and cultural practitioners. Volunteers will not only contribute to the success of a major academic event but also gain valuable experience, expand their professional networks, and engage in meaningful cross-cultural exchange. All selected volunteers will have their travel and accommodation covered.

Eligibility Criteria:

– Proficiency in Ukrainian
– English language proficiency at B2 level or higher
– Must be 18 years of age or older
– Prior volunteering experience
– Availability on 11-15 July, 2026

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with registration and check-in 
  2. Provide attendees with a schedule, venue maps, and general information
  3. Help with the setup of session rooms
  4. Ensure presenters have all necessary materials
  5. Answer questions and provide support to the participants
  6. Provide safety instructions for the participants in case of an air alarm
