RUTA held a featured panel on art in times of violence during the third RUTA Annual Conference 2026

July 14, 2026
Today a third featured panel took place: “How Do We Make Art in Times of Violence: Between Positionality and Solidarity”.
The discussion turned around the question of how can art challenge imperial ways of seeing rather than reproduce them?
Bringing together Nastya Kosodii, Michał Murawski, Maithu Bùi, and Furqat Palvan-Zade, this panel explores the possibilities and limits of cultural production in times of war, displacement, authoritarianism, and ongoing colonial violence.
Moderated by Lia Dostlieva.
The RUTA Conference 2026 was organized with the support of our partners: Uzhhorod National University and the Department of Archaeology, Ethnology and Cultural Studies; the International Renaissance Foundation; the Heinrich Böll Foundation Ukraine; Razom for Ukraine; Goethe-Institut Ukraine; the Ukrainian Studies Fund; Danyliw Foundation; Danyliw Research Seminar; and the University of Zurich.
